Easier Group forming via "Find Group" Channel
I would like to propose the idea of a "find group" channel. It would be an additional channel that could be toggled on and off to display chatter only concerning people looking for groups.
Another idea to simplify this might be a "looking for group flag" A message flag you could turn on over your head displaying either what type of people your group is looking for or what type of group you are looking for.

The channel would work alright, but, I have never been in an area with so much spam that it was needed. There are areas with huge spam, but these are marketplaces and if Im there its not because Im looking for a group.
The flag over the head wouldnt do too much I think. Some areas are large, and people move around alot, I dont see this as really being useful.

I think having the channel would be nice - you could ignore all the LFG'ing a lot easier if you aren't looking for a group

How about a "black board" in every city/outpost where you can look for a party or party members with all the required information, say for example:
- Your professions and level
- What mission/quest you want to do or where you want to go
- Free text remark
Then there is a button to invite you straight from the blackboard.
When you leave the outpost, your post is automatically removed from the blackboard.
PlanetSide had a simular system to form squads, and it worked just fine. Very easy.

In all my years of playing MMORPGs, I have never seen a more pointless chat option than that of the 'looking for group' chat.
Never once have I seen a game where people actively use the 'looking for group' chat, they just spam regular chat instead.
Now, if people actually used it, it'd work out great...

Inziladun: I'm afraight you're right here. Chat channel isn't the way to go here. Just like most people ignore the trade channel and spam the main channel instead, they'd ignore any other channel.
What we need is a menu-controlled market system, for both hiring party member and selling/buying stuff.

Having named chat channels doesn't work because over half the players just say what they want where they want. I mean, how many people actually USE the trade channel? They just screech about what they want to sell over and over and over on the general channel.
Instead of having chat channels why not have activity areas within cities that are specifically for certain activities? What if there was a flea market and that was the only place you could make trades, and an adventurers hall that was the only place where you could form groups? Chat within those areas is not general broadcast --it reaches only those within that area.
If the game were designed this way, everyone would know where to go to form or find a group. Everyone would know where to go to buy or sell. And people doing neither would not be constantly spammed with those type of messages.

So, the problem is not with having a "lfg channel", but rather with the frustration of the belief it wouldn't be worth it? We have a trade channel. People don't always use that. (in fact, they ignore it a lot because people are idiots) However, for those that DID choose to use the lfg channel, it would be nice. (I think a bulletin board system of some kind might be difficult to implement and tricky to use)
